The Fault in Reality — Prologue

My third novel ‘The Fault in Reality’ is on target for completion by the end of the summer. After that, the search for a publisher will begin. It’s been a long, complicated and sometimes frustrating journey but I’m really enjoying these last months of writing. To help me believe it’s almost there, I’m sharing this brief prologue from the start of the book. I hope you like it.

2016 started quietly, but by the end of that year many of the constants the Western world had come to rely on had been swept away and replaced with raw uncertainty. In June, the UK voted to leave the European Union. In November, the USA elected President Donald Trump. Neither of these events had been conceivable in January. But politics is not everything. There are always other forces at work.

We live in a world of millions of realities, one for every species on the planet. Trees take care of each other under and overground. Fungi are everywhere, sometimes spreading through the soil for…
